With fall upon us and winter around the corner - and good heavens should I forget …  FOOTBALL SEASON!!! … our Brigham Young University and University of Utah collegiate flannels, cotton prints and fleece prints are becoming very popular here at LDS Fabric!   Presently we have twelve different BYU and U of U products.

Sykel Enterprises (www.sykelenterprises.com) is the manufacturer of these high quality collegiate lines of “licensed” fleece, cottons and flannels.  The word “licensed” means in part that the manufacturer doesn’t allow private parties (you and I) to produce products with these licensed fabrics and sell them commercially.  It has to do with copyright infringement and trademark branding.  LDS Fabric will continue to stock these BYU fabric and U of U prints for same or next day shipping.  Hopefully our BYU and UTE fans will be well pleased with our selection and great prices.

OK… I know I probably sound bias, but I have to be completely honest and say that our two new Young Women LDS Fabric prints are probably my new favorites.  They are absolutely nothing less than SUPER COOL!!   They just arrived and I’m tickled ‘green’ to recommend them.  Right now they come in a double brushed 100% cotton flannel (full 44″/45″ width) but in early fall we will have the same prints in our cotton print line-up.  They are very popular and I assume that will stay the case…

“Young Women Values“ showcases the Young Womens Values in printed words of Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works and Integrity sprinkled among a happy and energetic floral arrangement.  We have some great matching colors for this series.
“Young Women” shows an adorable young woman with matching flowers accented with bee’s a buzzing and an iconic small red and white checker-square which shows the words “Young Woman” with a heart in the middle of the words.  Just too cute and a big recommend from Kathleen!

Oh Boy… I have been so busy posting new patterns I think my fingers are going to wear out!  I am happy to report that we are posting new products and patterns on our LDS Fabric website.  Lots of them!

I am very selective which ones I will carry.  Many of these I have already made myself.  Several I have not made but have personally reviewed them for their quality and interest.  There are some real great patterns for beginners and NO ONE should feel intimidated so as to not venture forth and dive into a quilt pattern!!!

A New Trend?
A new trend that I think I’m picking up on among quilters is that many are wanting a quilt pattern that allows them lower time commitment to make but yet produce a great look and feel.  The time-factor of making the quilt seems to be at the core of this challenge.  We have too little time and high expectations!   This reminds me of a story I heard once by Elder L. Tom Perry when he was visiting our stake conference as our visitor…  It seems he was visiting at one of his children’s homes one day and while looking at the family calendar posted on the wall, he said he saw how full it was with all sorts of activities.  Everyone was going in every direction… and he picked up a pencil and started to erase.  His point was that we are putting too many activities into our daily routines and need to simplify…    With regards to quilting, there are indeed many wonderful prints that lend itself to being fairly fast with great results.  I have posted some of those patterns for the over-stressed and over-extended!  Better to have two completed quilts - than ten unfinished ones…   Call me if you need a recommendation!   Bon Appetite!

I am pleased to announce the new arrival of our first three LDS themed cotton prints.  We have named them “Zion’s Daughters”; “Sons of Helaman” and “I Hope They Call Me On A Mission”.   These are high quality 100% cotton prints which I am sure anyone will be pleased with.  These are the first of several cottons in the LDS Fabric line up.

We launched our website at the beginning of last April, however most of our fabric was in flannel.  Indeed flannel has its wonderful place, but the addition of cotton prints have always been part of our plan.  Now finally they are starting to arrive.  In the months ahead you will see many more…  A lovely Book of Mormon line up is due this coming fall.  You will see some of our existing flannel patterns become available in cotton print also, as well as many new prints which include:

• Book of Mormon series
• Young Woman and Young Woman Values
• Noah’s Ark series
• Scouting l and Scouting II
• Fairy series
• Two wonderful Nativity prints for Christmas
• Cowboy series
• And a very exciting Pirate series in cotton

These and many more will be arriving throughout the year.

We are so pleased to report that the new Robert Kaufman kona cotton prints have arrived.  The good news is that they are VERY nice - better than expected…  The bad news is that they are really going fast and Kaufman has already sold out of several of these prints from their first production run (and our stock is going quickly too!).  For those “sold out” prints, we are waiting on them to received stock from their second production run due to be delivered to us by mid August.   I have also posted these prints in our Fat Quarter category as well…  ENJOY!!!
